It might not exactly be nowhere, as the F910 (Austurleið) leads to a hut (Dreki) at the base of Dyngjufjoll and the well known Askja Caldera. But after two days of walking through the barren landscape and spending a solitary night in the desert it feels close to worlds end.
The F910 continues onwards into central iceland. It is only suitable for 4×4 vehicles and even those usually travel in convoys to help each other fording the rivers on the way. People on foot or on mountain bikes should check conditions with the local rangers, try to ford in the early morning hours or wait for a car to take them across.
